I would like to wish all my Muslim students "Selamat Hari Raya"
and to the others " Happy Holidays".
Here's one of my favourite raya songs.
Enjoy...

It is time to...
make your friends your teachers.
The end of Chapter 1 ....
...time to gather all the e-projects
that the students have painstakingly put together,
not forgetting the groups with the not-so-glamorous task:
The Discussion Board Groups.
I am glad to say most have tried their
best to shine and sparkle.
To my delight, the resources collected were
many and varied. There is something for every one and
every sub-unit.
Even Graphing Calculator and Geometer Sketchpad help is
available.
I must say you make me proud.
...the time has come for you to
" Make your friends your teachers
and mingle the pleasures
of conversation with
the advantages of instruction."

It is what students say they want....
.... from a survey of high school students in the US.
1. Real-world application and relevancy.
Will I ever use
this knowledge?"
this knowledge?"
Students : “I want to do things I like.”
????&%#$@??
3. Innovation
the class interesting?"
Students : “Why can't they respect
and care about us rather
than constantly ‘telling’
us what we should learn?"
5. Interactive technology
Students : "Why can't we have more
hands-on class activities
where we can experiment,
discuss, and reflect on
what we observed,
and then redo the activity ."
Well, I can vaguely remember thinking along the lines of #1 and #3.... and maybe #4.
The others?- not even in my wildest dreams!
So guys and gals, let me know what you want, what you
really, really want!

It is Work in Progress
-The Art of Living, that's what I am referring to.
Currently learning to:
* adopt a greener lifestyle... Less is indeed MORE!
* live without expectations - of people, situations, ...
* Accept that there are some things beyond our control.
* forgive and let go.
* expect the unexpected.
* enjoy being creative.
* see obstacles as opportunities.
* take time to enjoy the beauty of God's creations,
the company of family, friends, students,...
* be contented ... be grateful....
... be happy.

It is not a secret-

Tips to get better grades in mathematics:
1. Be punctual for class. Better still ...be there before the teacher arrives. This gives you time to review
1. Be punctual for class. Better still ...be there before the teacher arrives. This gives you time to review
the previous day's lesson, and think of any nagging questions/ doubts you may have. You can use the time
to consult your classmates first before asking the teacher. This habit puts you in the right frame of mind for
the work ahead.

2. Use pockets of time wisely - for example: while waiting for the class to start, waiting for the bus, in
the bus, in between classes... You will find that a good portion of your homework for the day is done.
3. Keep a small note book to jot down the problems you encounter along the way and the solutions to these
problems after you have asked for help. It is useful for revision. Also try out the questions you had
trouble with a few times without referring to the solutions.

- sit in front of the class.

stand out.
- have excellent time management skills.
- become absorbed in learning a new skill (using the Graphing
Calculator) / mastering a concept /...
