It is what students say they want....

.... from a survey of high school students in the US.

1. Real-world application and relevancy.

    Students : "Why do I need to
                      know this?

                      Will I ever use
                      this knowledge?"

2. Choice                   

                           

    Students : “I want to do things I like.”

                     ????&%#$@??

3. Innovation             

                                         

    Students : "Boring!!!

                      Why can’t they make

                     the class interesting?"

4. Teacher mentors                                         

    Students : “Why can't they respect

                     and care about us rather

                      than constantly ‘telling’ 

                      us what we should learn?"

5. Interactive technology

  

     Students :  "Why can't we have more

                       hands-on class activities 

                       where we can experiment,

                       discuss, and reflect on

                       what we observed,

                       and then redo the activity ."

Well, I can vaguely remember thinking along the lines of #1 and #3.... and maybe #4.

 The others?-  not even in my wildest dreams!

So guys and gals, let me know what you want, what you
really, really want!
